Department of Cardio-Thoraco-Vascular Sciences and Public Health
The Department of Cardio-Thoraco-Vascular Sciences and Public Health stands out for its multidisciplinary and translational approach that covers several cross-cutting research strands ranging from cardiovascular and thoraco-pulmonary issues to public health, integrating experimental research with clinical and public health research, along the entire path of care.
The Department stands out for its well-established and nationally and internationally recognized research areas, such as cardiomyopathies, sudden death, interventional and surgical treatment of structural cardiovascular diseases, neoplastic and non-neoplastic pulmonary diseases, heart and lung transplant pathology, rare diseases, occupational diseases and public health fields, as well as for newly acquired research areas such as nursing and radiology.
The presence of public health makes it possible to promote an integrated "One Health" approach, aimed at combining human, environmental and animal health, which is essential to address current challenges, such as pollution, emerging diseases and the effects of climate change.
