Erasmus +: Short mobility PhD

University of Padua offers its PhD students the opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ International Mobility programmes, based on 1800 agreements with about 500 partner institutions. 

This call is aimed at all students enrolled in a Phd course offered by the University of Padua.

  Who can apply

The “Short mobility for PHD students” programme is aimed at all regularly enrolled PhD students of the University of Padua; thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme, they have the possibility of perform periods of physical mobility abroad, even of short mobility. It is always allowed to add a virtual component.

  Deadlines and mobility periods

Online applications must be submitted in the periods below:

  • KA131 (Europe) 3rd call: from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2025 at 1pm (mobility period between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2026); Attention: The application must be submitted at least 45 days before the start of the mobility. Applications will be accepted until funds run out and in any case no later than 31 December 2025.
  • KA171 (Extra Europe) call 2024: one call per month from the 15th to the 30th of each month until December 2025 (mobility period until 31 July 2026);

Physical mobility must be between 5 and 30 days and adding a virtual component is always possible.

  Activities

  • Research activities;
  • Courses offered by foreign institutions
  • Seminars and other educational programmes

It is not allow to partecipate in conferences/congresses as speaker 

The participant will always have to act as a learner (not as a teacher / trainer).

Pay attention: educational activities can be combined with a period of research, but not teaching or dissemination.

  Incompatibilities

  • Erasmus mobility grants are not compatible with other European funding schemes , such as PNRR grants, PON/ERC projects and other EU grants.
  • Successful students will still be able to participate in the programme as Zero Grant participants.
  • Erasmus+ mobility cannot take place at the same time as other international mobilities, whether physical or virtual.
  • PhD students in joint supervision will be able to access this opportunity only if their administrative headquarters is the University of Padua.

  How to apply

Application form must be completed and submitted exclusively online, by logging into the Uniweb account, selecting ‘International Mobility > Outgoing International Mobility’ from the menu on the left and choosing ‘Exchange Programmes’, then “PHD Short”.

The application form must be accompanied by the following documents (in PDF format only)

  1. Learning Agreement signed by both institutions;
  2. Letter of support from the supervisor of the University of Padua;
  3. Acceptance letter from the host institution;
  4. CV in English;
  5. Program of activities to be carried out abroad (courses, seminars, research project, etc.)
  6. Language certificate attesting knowledge of the language of the destination country and/or language of instruction of the host institution.

It is possible to apply and participate in a maximum of 3 mobilities for the KA131 call and a maximum of 1 mobility for the KA171 call 2024.
The mobility periods cannot overlap.

  Selection criteria

The applications received will be evaluated by a special commission on the basis of:

1. Relevance of the mobility for the doctoral program;

2. Quality of the project and objectives;

3. Joint activities or activities of particular relevance for the University.

  • The applications will be processed by the Project and Mobility Office – Mobility Sector and the candidate will receive a response within 15 days from the date of receipt of the application.
  • If positive, the candidate will be able to start the mobility period starting from the 30th day from the date of the positive outcome.
  • Depending on the availability of funds, mobilities may be partially funded or accepted at zero grant, i.e. without funding.

  Recognition of credits

All participants will be required to complete a Learning Agreement, in which they will indicate the study programme and learning outcomes.

In addition to the title of the activity, they will also need to specify the type of activity and provide a description for any virtual component.

The recognition of activities carried out abroad will be at the discretion of the PhD programme, which will provide further information to the selected PhD students.
