European Degree

The European Degree is an initiative through which the European Commission, in close collaboration with Member States and higher education institutions, is establishing a new model for a joint qualification, automatically and universally recognised across the European Union.

Designed to strengthen transnational cooperation between universities and modernise higher education systems, the European Degree serves as a key pillar for building the European Education Area, streamlining recognition procedures and fostering mutual trust between universities and employers.

Main features:

• Can be established for bachelor's, master's or PhD programmes
• Joint qualification awarded by a consortium of European universities
• Based on common criteria established at European level
• Automatic recognition in all EU countries
• Offers study opportunities at different European universities
• Promotes the acquisition of interdisciplinary and future-oriented skills
• Helps increase the competitiveness of graduates in the international labour market

The University of Padua is following the development of this initiative with great interest, demonstrating its commitment through active participation in European projects on the subject, involvement in the European alliance Arqus, participation in and organisation of conferences at national and international level, and other activities aimed at promoting internationalisation and educational excellence.
