On 27 March 2024, the European Commission presented the initiative "Blueprint for a European Degree", outlining the path that will lead, in the near future, to the establishment of the European Bachelor's Degree, known as the European Degree.

Main features:

  • Can be activated for Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or PhD programmes
  • Joint qualification awarded by a consortium of European universities
  • Based on common criteria established at European level
  • Automatic recognition in all EU countries
  • Offers study opportunities at different European universities
  • Promotes the acquisition of interdisciplinary and future-oriented skills
  • Helps increase graduates' competitiveness in the international labour market

The main objective of the European Degree is to promote the deep integration of the European Higher Education System and strengthen European identity in the field of higher education.

The University of Padua is following the development of this initiative with great interest, demonstrating its commitment through active participation in European projects on the subject, involvement in the Arqus European Alliance, participation in and organisation of conferences at national and international level, and other activities aimed at promoting internationalisation and excellence in education.
