Summertime at Unipd

At the completion of summer exams, all academic activities will be suspended from Monday 7 August to Saturday 19 August, while the 2022/2023 UniPD academic calendar includes an extra exam session from 21 August to 23 September.

Historical tours of the Palazzo Bo remain open from Monday through Friday, while guided tours focused on the twentieth century (Palazzo Bo e il ‘900 di Gio Ponti) are available on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays throughout the summer season and daily from 10 to 20 August. Reservations are required.

The Botanical Garden remains open throughout the summer, with opening hours from 10 am to 7 pm (last admission at 6:15 pm) from Tuesday to Sunday and on all public holidays. This summer the Gardens are enriched with a series of events for visitors to fully experience each area and collections that share the unique secrets of the plant world. Greenhouses will remain closed for maintenance work during the summer, but will return with a renewal of its botanical collection and a restyling of the entire area.

The Unipd Store bookshop at the Botanical Garden follows the same opening hours of the Garden (therefore it is closed only on Mondays). The Unipd Store in Palazzo Bo will be closed from the 14 to the 27 August but will reopen on 28 August and remain open daily Monday through Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. The UNIPD Store in via San Francesco is temporarily closed.

Several Unipd Museums are open to the public, including special initiatives and visits that, in many cases, are free. Even the new Museum of Nature and Humankind will continue to welcome visitors during the summer months. The new museum offers a unique narration of our ever evolving planet, highlighting the diversity of Earth and the relationship between the human species and the environment through engaging, multimedia and interactive tools. Visitors can take advantage of an integrated ticket that allows them to visit both this new museum and the Botanical Garden at a discounted price. Access is free to both the Museum of Nature and Humankind and the Botanical Garden for students and UniPD employees.

The historic garden of Villa Parco Bolasco in Castelfranco Veneto is temporarily closed following the fall of the monumental farnia tree.

Various initiatives are planned across the University and within the city.  Visitors can enjoy a full schedule of events and tours from the summer Notturni Padovani calendar to discovery the many treasure of UniPD including the Sala dei Giganti, the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art, the “Enrico Bernardi" Museum of Machines, the Giovanni Poleni Museum of Physics, the Museum of Geography, the Botanical Gardens, the Corte Lando Correr and the Human Anatomy complex, and many more.

From 10 to 20 August 2023 all the offices of the central administration of the University are closed, including the offices of the teaching and student services area, the Call Centre (049 827 3131) and the URP. During the summer, the reservation center for the University's cultural sites and museums remains open for callers at 049827.3939 daily from 9 am to 5 pm.

The University of Padua Bressanone Campus, offers courses and initiatives throughout the summer from June to September.

For the second anniversary of the inscription of the fresco cycles of Padova Urbs picta in the UNESCO World Heritage List, from 1 to 31 August 2023, residents of the province of Padua and students of the University of Padua can visit the following museums for free: Eremitani Museum (where the exhibition "All'ombra di Canaletto" is also taking place), Palazzo Zuckermann, Palazzo della Ragione, Museo del Risorgimento e dell'Età Contemporanea. The Cappella degli Scrovegni and exhibitions with a Siae ticket are excluded from the initiative.
