Yusuf Kiranda, General Secretary of Makerere University, hosted at Palazzo Bo

On July 6, the University of Padova hosted Dr Yusuf Kiranda, the General Secretary of Makerere University (Uganda). During a meeting at Palazzo Bo he shared experiences, best practices and ideas about the management of university budget and human resources with Unipd representatives: Dr Alberto Scuttari, Chief Executive Office of our University and by high representatives of the Human Resources Division, International Relations Division, Research and Business Relations Division. The Vice Rector for International Relations prof. Cristina Basso and the Advisor for Africa and International Cooperation Prof. Piegiorgio Sonato took part in the meeting too. 

The University of Makerere University (Uganda), founded in 1922, is the largest and oldest English institution of higher learning in Africa. In 2020, the Makerere University Council approved its Strategic Plan (2020-2030) which aims to transform Makerere University into a research-driven university and enhance community relevance as well as consolidate the position of Makerere as Uganda's development engine.

The University of Padua has already been collaborating with the University of Makerere for several years both in the field of research and teaching, mobility of students and teachers. The commitment now is to extend the collaboration also between the two administrations through job-shadowing activities and exchange mobility programmes for staff.
