23.12.2019

During winter holidays, the University of Padua will be offering special guided tours to discover the spaces conceived and designed by Gio Ponti, the renowned Milanese architect who left a remarkable influence at Unipd. From December 27 until 29 and from January the 2 until 6, visitors will have the opportunity to visit areas which are generally not accessible throughout the rest of the year.

Palazzo Bo, the headquarters of the University of Padua, will open to visitors its 20th century's core, where remarkable artists were appointed in order to renovate the premises. The architect Ponti appointed as his collaborators some of the greatest artists of the 20th century; artists such as Arturo Martini, creator of the statue of Palinuro, situated in the 'Atrio degli Eroi'; Filippo de Pisis, Achille Funi, Ferruccio Ferrazzi, Giuseppe Santomaso, Gino Severini.

The tour stretches through the most renowned and fascinating rooms of the headquarters, starting from the old cloister, through the anatomical theatre, then to the 'Sala dei Quaranta', the Aula Magna, the Basilica, the Old Archive, the Gio Ponti's dean premises, and finally ends in the new cloister.
