The latest edition of The Center for World University Rankings for 2021/2022, confirms the University of Padua in 165th place worldwide and second in Italy after Sapienza.
While not well known in Italy, the CWUR ranking center is well respected in the Middle East. This year, they have evaluated almost twenty thousand universities. Among these, CWUR has identified the top two thousand universities worldwide (of which 66 are located in Italy).
The CWUR examines teaching and research indictors by grouping them into four areas: Quality of Education (measuring the number of a university's alumni who have won major academic distinctions relative to the university's size, 25%); Alumni Employment (measuring the number of a university's alumni who have held top executive position at the world's largest companies relative to the university's size, 25%); Quality of Faculty (measuring the number of faculty members who have won major academic distinctions, 10%), and Research Performance. Research Performance indicators include Research Output (measuring the total number of research papers, 10%); High-Quality Publications (measuring the number of research papers appearing in top-tier journals, 10%), Influence (measuring the number of research papers appearing in highly influential journals, 10%), and Citations (measuring the number of highly cited research papers, 10%).
