12.09.2019

According to the rankings drawn from the prestigious international ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE), the University of Padova confirms its position in the 201-250th place internationally, after the approximately 150 recovered in the previous edition and maintains in 4th place in the national field (second, among the great universities). The number of universities that enter THE’s ranking system has grown from 1,258 in 2018 to 1,396.

To develop its own ranking methodology, THE covers the following five performance indicators: Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry income, and International outlook. In this regard the University of Padova, while remaining in the same band of merit, slightly improved its overall score obtained by the sum of the five indicators with a significant increase in teaching (although considered a didactic macro-parameter).  The University of Padova moved up 40 positions from 217th to 177th place on a world scale. With reference to the other parameters, the Citation indicator holds the highest score of 80.2 out of possible 100, demonstrating the impact of quality and the high international recognition enjoyed by the University's scientific departments.

Giulio Vidotto, Coordinator of the Ranking Commission  states,  "These results confirm the effectiveness of the actions undertaken to support not only the scientific excellence of the University, but also innovative and quality programs in the field of education, which is constantly growing in the assessments of the academic community, students, and its employers. There remains work to do both in terms of funds and in terms of financing from the business world,   as well as the internationalization of faculty and students, factors on which the University continues to focus on.”
