A new synergy has been established between the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua and the “Cesare Pollini” Conservatory of Music, with the aim of strengthening the training of young female and male orchestra conductors and promoting the musical excellence of the region.

Thanks to a recent agreement, the Concentus Musicus Patavinus Symphony Orchestra of the University of Padua has become a training partner for the Conservatory’s three-year course in Orchestra Conducting. This initiative offers students a valuable educational opportunity: the chance to work directly with a full symphony orchestra.

"The collaboration between the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua and the “Cesare Pollini” Conservatory of Music, established through an agreement, enhances the existing partnerships between the two institutions and promotes the educational and Third Mission dimensions of our University," emphasizes Paola Dessi, project coordinator and lecturer in Musicology and History of Music at the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua. "Regarding the Third Mission, the Concentus Musicus Patavinus Symphony Orchestra provides a service to the city and its institutions by promoting musical knowledge, including performance skills, developed within the University. In terms of education, this collaboration allows the university community that is part of the CMP Orchestra to participate in the training path for the First Level Academic Diploma in Orchestra Conducting, both as ongoing learners and as active participants in a virtuous cycle of workshops and seminars."

In recent weeks, some rehearsal sessions were held with the presence of Maestro Matteo Boischio, the official conductor of the CMP Symphony Orchestra, and Maestro Fabrizio Da Ros, a teacher in the Conservatory’s Orchestra Conducting class. During these sessions, seven students from the course took turns on the podium, experiencing firsthand the direction of a symphony orchestra.

The highlight of this experience is scheduled for March 10, when the final exam for the First Level Academic Diploma in Orchestra Conducting will take place. This will be a historic milestone for the “Pollini” Conservatory, as the first graduate of the course will take the exam in front of a dedicated committee, conducting the Concentus Musicus Patavinus Symphony Orchestra.

The collaboration between the two institutions will not be limited to this educational project. The orchestra will also be featured in an upcoming concert at the “Cesare Pollini” Auditorium, under the direction of the new official conductor of Concentus, Maestro Matteo Boischio.

This agreement strengthens the dialogue between the University and the Conservatory and represents a virtuous example of cooperation in support of the artistic growth of the new generations of musicians.
