QS Ranking by Subject: Unipd among the top 100 in the world within 9 disciples and the Natural Sciences macro-area

Within both its macro and individual disciplinary areas, the University of Padua confirms its academic prestige in the 2024 edition of the QS Rankings by Subject category. As the leading global university ranking agency, the number of disciplines considered in this edition increased by five subjects, as such, the University of Padua was evaluated on 37 out of the 42 disciplines.

Within the macro-disciplinary areas, Natural Sciences makes a triumphant entry into the top 100 in the world, placing the University of Padua in 97th place for the first time. Additional exceptional results in other disciplinary areas include Life Sciences & Medicine (105th place), Arts & Humanities (139th), Engineering & Technology (166th), and Social Sciences & Management (232nd). This positive trend in all macro areas brings forth an average improvement of 13 positions compared to last year. 

For the evaluation of individual disciplines, the University of Padua confirms its excellence at a global level with 9 subjects present in the top 100 in the world and 19 in the top 150. Leading the ranking are Classics & Ancient History (49th place) and Physics & Astronomy (62nd), followed by other top performers such as Veterinary Science (51-70th range), Psychology (75th), Agriculture & Forestry (78th) and Pharmacy and Pharmacology (81st). Three other disciplines in the 51-100 range include Anatomy & Physiology, Archeology, and Statistics & Operational Research.

Perhaps the most striking result comes from Biological Sciences, which won first place overall in Italy, advancing by 25 positions worldwide and placing itself in 108th place globally. Statistics & Operational Research and Anatomy & Physiology are confirmed in top national rankings. In addition to the disciplines already mentioned, English Language & Literature, Linguistics, and Education reached high placement on the national podium.
