Project “No T to Lose”. The Region, AOUPD and the University of Padua take the field for andrological prevention
03.02.2026
On the occasion of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, a major free andrological prevention initiative kicks off in Cortina d’Ampezzo, offering medical check-ups, screenings and educational outreach to bring men’s health back to the forefront.
“No T to Lose” is an ambitious medical prevention and scientific awareness project that will run throughout the entire duration of the Olympic Games, from 6 February to 15 March 2026.
Promoted by the Veneto Region, the Padua University Hospital (AOUPD) and the University of Padua, with scientific coordination by Andrea Garolla, the initiative aims to raise awareness among the male population about the crucial importance of prevention in the field of andrology.
The project’s name plays on the letter “T”, which encompasses three fundamental concepts for men’s health: testicle, testosterone, and also time. These are key elements that are often overlooked, yet decisive for the early diagnosis of conditions that, if ignored, can compromise fertility, sexuality and overall well-being.
The beating heart of the initiative will be Cortina d’Ampezzo. During the competitions, residents, tourists and sports fans will be able to access clinics set up at the SISP (via Cesare Battisti 80, just steps from Corso Italia) to receive free medical check-ups and age-specific screenings.
For adolescents aged 14 to 18, the focus will be on pubertal development and the prevention of testicular cancer; for young adults (19–25), attention will be on fertility and sexually transmitted diseases; while for those over 50, the emphasis will be on prostate and metabolic prevention.
In addition to medical visits, the project will bring to life the Agora of Prevention: a meeting space where, every afternoon before the award ceremonies, doctors, researchers and well-known figures from sports and entertainment will take turns highlighting the importance of “playing ahead” against disease. Among the prominent supporters of the initiative is ski champion Kristian Ghedina, the project’s key testimonial. “In Italy, after the abolition of compulsory military medical examinations in 2005, the only form of mass screening for young men disappeared. Today we are witnessing a true gender gap in prevention: while girls are accustomed from a young age to gynecological check-ups, fewer than 5% of males under twenty have ever had an andrological examination. With ‘No T to Lose’, we want to reverse this trend precisely in the Olympic context, where the body and health are absolute protagonists. The ‘T’ in our slogan stands for Testicle and Testosterone, but above all for Time: because in medicine, as in sport, timing is everything, and early diagnosis is the real gold medal that can save lives,” commented Garolla.
