
Pietro Ruggieri elected President of EFORT in Lyon

Pietro Ruggieri, Full Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Padua and Head of the Orthopaedic and Traumatological Clinic at the University-Hospital of Padua, has been appointed as the new President of the European Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology EFORT (European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology). His election took place during the society's 26th annual congress, recently held in Lyon, France.
Pietro Ruggieri is a prominent figure on the international stage for his research activities in musculoskeletal tumours, reconstructive surgery, and prosthetics in musculoskeletal oncology. His appointment is a recognition of his expertise and dedication in the field of orthopaedics. Throughout his career, he has held significant roles in other prestigious scientific societies, including the presidency of ISOLS (International Society of Limb Salvage) from 2011 to 2013 and of EMSOS (European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society) from 2021 to 2023. This year, Pietro Ruggieri also chaired the annual congress of EMSOS, held in Padua from April 28 to 30.
Within EFORT, President Ruggieri serves as the Chair of EOTEP, the European Orthopaedic and Traumatology Education Platform, and is the Scientific Advisor for musculoskeletal oncology, his field of expertise.
Founded in 1993, EFORT aims to improve the quality of orthopaedic and traumatological care through educational activities, the promotion of scientific research, and the adoption of best professional practices. The Society fosters collaboration among orthopaedic and traumatological institutions across Europe and currently has 42 member countries.
