Museums from Four Continents

As part of the inauguration of the Museum of Nature and Humankind, located in the recently restored Palazzo Cavalli of Padua, the President of the University of Padua's Centre of Museums, Prof Fabrizio Nestola welcomes a panel of international museum directors to discuss their experience on Friday, 23 June, 10 a.m., in the Auditorium of the Museum of Nature and Humankind.

The panel includes Dr. Katrin Vohlandof the NaturhistorischesMuseum in Vienna (Austria), Dr. Jeffrey Postof The National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. (USA), Dr. Analía A. Lanteri Museo La Plata in Paseo delBosque (Argentina), and Dr. Ken-ichi Shinodaof The National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo (Japan).

Held in English, the audience will be given ample time to ask questions before closing remarks from Prof Nestola.

Open to the public as of 24 June, the Museum of Nature and Humankind represents the main enduring legacy bestowed upon the city of Padua following the 800th anniversary celebrations of the University of Padua. The new museum is a scientific narrative of Earth as an evolving system, its diversity, and the relationship between humans and the environment. Visitors will enjoy a unique and exciting experience through the museum's interdisciplinary, interactive, and multimedia scientific interface.

The Nature and Humankind Museum will be the largest university museum in Europe. With an exhibition area of approximately 4.000 square metres, the museum includes captivating display solutions and more than 200.000 mineralogical, geological and paleontological, zoological and anthropological artefacts. As a place of participation in developing a rich sense of scientific citizenship, the Museum of Nature and Humankind is an open and inclusive community where research, conservation, communication, and education take place.
