Celebrating International Museum Day

Together with the Padova Città della Scienza third mission project, the University Centre of Museums proposes a schedule of events in celebration of International Museum Day. Held on 18 May and promoted worldwide by the International Council of Museums, the theme for the 2023 edition is Museums, Sustainability, and Well-being. As such, the schedule of events reflects access to museums and places of culture “Without physical, cognitive, cultural or socio-economic barriers where we can all feel good.”

The Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art offers Museo per tutt*, where visitors experience a tactile path of the museums Gipsoteca plaster cast gallery on 13, 24, and 31 May.

The Museum of Education offers Learning by Hand, where visitors experience an interactive tour of games, toys, school supplies, and more on 18, 23, 25, 30 May and 1 June

The Educational Museum of Veterinary Medicine offers Museo tra le maniwhere visitors take a tactile journey through the life of animals on 23 and 30 May.

Palazzo Liviano offers Una stanza tutta per sé, where visitors can experience the Sala dei giganti as a group or alone on 19 and 25 May.

Palazzo Bo offers Tocco d'arte, where visitors can experience a tactile journey from three different guided tours on 15 May. Each tour allows visitors to appreciate important architectural aspects and décor through touch that include elements especially designed for the visually impaired, Palazzo Bo offers tours of the historic University site that is truly inclusive with the addition of a sign language interpreter (Italian sign language – LIS) upon request.
