The 20th Anniversary of the European Charter for Researchers

Italian version

16.06.2025

On June 27, at 10 a.m., the “Galileo Galilei” Aula Magna at Palazzo del Bo in Padua will host the national event The 20th Anniversary of the European Charter for Researchers. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow: a journey toward improvement.

The event aims to celebrate 20 years since the publication of the first European Charter for Researchers and to review the developments that led to the adoption, in December 2023, of the Council of Europe’s recommendation known as the “New European Charter for Researchers.”

The morning sessions describe the evolution of the implementation of the Charter in Italy to date, with particular emphasis on the key role played by the recognition of an institution’s commitment and progress towards its implementation through the “HRS4R award.” These topics are discussed with contributions from Michele Rosa-Clot, HR Excellence in Research Portfolio Manager (European Commission - RTD), Anna Maria Eleuteri (University of Camerino), Fulvio Esposito, Italy’s representative on the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy, Francesca Spigarelli (University of Macerata), Chiara Biglia (Polytechnic University of Turin), and Nicola Dengo, Vice President of Eurodoc.

A round table discussion in the afternoon will focus on the topic of research evaluation—an especially relevant issue in this context.

In-person attendance is free upon reservation.
