Horizon 2020, MSCA-IF 2020 finances 17 research projects to be conducted at Unipd

09.02.2021

The European Commission has announced the winners of the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships grants for 2020. The University of Padua received excellent results as 17 research projects were awarded by researchers who have chosen our University to conduct their studies with a budget of € 3,467,608.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships grants are aimed at supporting research training and career development of researchers by supporting their international, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary mobility. In particular, Individual Fellowships (MSCA-IF) grants last between 12 and 36 months and fund the transnational mobility of promising researchers.

The success achieved by the University of Padua is demonstrated by the strategic investment of the University in initiatives to support the attraction of top-level researchers to Padua both within Italian and international as the University participates in competitive European calls.

In addition to the 17 projects financed, a further 28 projects scored more than or equal to 85/100, and are therefore recognised to be of excellent quality, but are not eligible due to budget limitations. To these 28 projects, the European Commission symbolically recognises a seal of excellence called "Seal of Excellence – MSC Actions" and the University of Padua will offer an alternative funding opportunity through the MSCA Seal of Excellence@Unipd initiative, the first of its kind in Italy.

The University of Padua is therefore confirmed as an international attraction of excellent research that is conducted in the name of interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinary values. Our University, which is the first in Italy in the Evaluation of The Quality of Research – VQR ANVUR, offers a wide range of possibilities for those who want to undertake a research activity that pursues innovative ideas.

For the Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Individual Fellowships call (H2020 – MSCA – IF) UniPD also organises the MaRaThon@Unipd, an intensive training programme aimed at potential candidates for Marie Curie Individual Fellowships for those who have chosen Padua to conduct their research. Each spring, selected participants have the opportunity to meet active research groups from the University, learn about the research infrastructures, and enjoy the benefits of specific training tools for the most effective ways to submit their application. The edition of the MSCA MARaThoN @ University of Padua 2021 will be re-launched in May 2021 and will take place remotely.

Funding for the mobility of researchers through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships Action is also provided for in the new EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe. The first call is scheduled to open on April 15, 2021.
