GeneRNAtion Challenge - Advancing Personalized Medicine

The National Center for Gene Therapy and RNA Drugs, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, announces the launch of the first edition of the GeneRNAtion Challenge - Advancing Personalized Medicine. This event represents a unique opportunity to promote the best startups and the most innovative projects in the field of RNA technology and Gene Therapy.

The top eight selected startups will receive a grant of up to 110,000 euros and three years of membership in the National Center for the Development of Gene Therapy and RNA-based Drugs Foundation. The top three research projects will receive a grant of up to 40,000 euros.

Applications are open from November 3 to November 30, 2025.

  • The selection results will be communicated by December 21, 2025.
  • The Deal Line up, requiring the candidate's availability for a 30-minute slot, will take place by January 18, 2026.
  • The awards ceremony will be held by January 31, 2026.

Projects must relate to at least one of the following focus areas of the 10 Spokes of the National Center for RNA & Gene Therapy:

Spoke 1: Genetic Diseases
Spoke 2: Cancer
Spoke 3: Neurodegeneration
Spoke 4: Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases
Spoke 5: Inflammatory and Infectious Diseases
Spoke 6: RNA Drug Development
Spoke 7: Biocomputing
Spoke 8: Platforms for RNA/DNA Delivery
Spoke 9: Competence Center on RNA Drug Pharmacology
Spoke 10: Pre-clinical Development, GMP Manufacturing and Clinical Trials of GTMP
