Revenue stamp
The Italian marca da bollo (revenue stamp) is a holographic barcode adhesive label, very similar to postage stamps, used by the Government to collect a tax on public documents.
The general purpose revenue stamp in use at the University of Padua has a value of € 16.
Authorised dealers and usage
Revenue stamps can be immediately printed on demand at authorised tobaconnists.
The usage is very simple: the adhesive label must be applied to documents when needed. Documents completed with a marca da bollo must not be delivered by fax but exclusively by post (including A/R registered letters with return receipt) or by hand in person.
