Accommodation for students

Students who fall into the category of non-resident and commuter enrolled/enrolling in bachelor's degree programmes (three-year), master's degree programmes (two-year), single-cycle master's degree programmes, PhD programmes, and specialisation schools (non-medical area) are eligible to participate in the assignment of ESU accommodation.

The benefit is granted only for the achievement of the first degree for each level of study and on a priority basis to off-site students who meet the relevant merit and income requirements.

To determine their status as living away from home or commuting, students must strictly refer to the Table of geographical distances published by the ESU and the University.

To access accommodation at full or reduced rates, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• first-year students: income requirements only (as certified by ISEE/ISEE Parificato Universitario)
• subsequent years: merit requirements (met by 10 August 2026) and income (as certified by ISEE/ISEE Parificato Universitario)

Starting at 10:00 a.m. on 3 July 2026, applications can be submitted by the deadlines indicated below, exclusively through the ESU Padova online services on the institutional portal Sportello studente.

Deadlines for submitting online applications:

• Subsequent years: students/PhD students/specialisation students (not in the medical area): 19 August 2026 (10 a.m.)
• First years: EU/international students/PhD students/specialisation students (not in the medical field): 25 August 2026 (10 a.m.)

Students can also book accommodation at one of the private boarding schools in Padova, which they will have to contact independently.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Municipality of Padova and Esu, students can also join the intergenerational cohabitation project, which promotes an alliance between the student population and the citizens of Padova over 65. It is not a welfare-type relationship, but an intergenerational pact aimed at fostering Solidarity relationships starting from a regular lease agreement.

Living in Padova - University City

To promote the knowledge of subsidized rental contracts between university students, owners and real estate operators, the ESU has prepared the guide Abitare a Padova - Città universitaria, in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, the University and the Municipality of Padova.

Student Leases

Leases are divided into two categories: "free" contracts, with a duration of four years plus four (4+4), and concerted contracts (3+2 residential contract, transitional contract and student contract). The latter are characterized by the shorter duration of the relationship, the lower rent and the standardized contractual conditions, which correspond to certain tax benefits for the owner. These contracts are the result of an agreement concluded by the municipalities of Padova and Vicenza, the landlords' and tenants' unions, the ESU, the University and the student associations. The models can be downloaded from the website of the Municipality of Padova.

The University of Padua has partnered with private residences to reserve accommodation for international students. Each residence applies different prices and conditions and includes various services (e.g. half board or full board); all information about the residences is listed below.

The International Housing Office provides support to enrolled international students in finding suitable accommodation in Padua’s private rental market.

Services include:

• Guidance and orientation on the local housing market
• English translation of rental contracts and clarification of legal terms
• Personalised accommodation search based on individual needs and preferences
• Assistance with administrative procedures (hospitality declaration, rental contracts and other required documentation)

The ESU Padova welcomes international guests, mainly from outside the EU, linked to the university world and traveling for study, course unit, research. The facilities are modern and well-equipped, close to the main university campuses and conveniently connected to the city centre.

The offer varies from rooms to suites, with weekly or monthly stay formulas, up to a maximum of 6 months. The additional services, which may vary for each property, are designed to ensure a comfortable stay, including concierge, Internet connection, laundry and much more.

The ESU guesthouses are at the campus of Agripolis in Legnaro and, in Padova, the guesthouses Copernico, Luzzatti, Villa Liberty.

In particular, several places are available in the "Copernico" university residence from August to September, for international students who wish to arrive before the start of classes.  
The university residence "Copernico" is located in via Tiepolo n. 54 in Padova (10 minutes walk from the main squares) and offers single rooms with adjacent bathroom (2 rooms share a bathroom).

Seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

To book temporary accommodation you must:

• pay the full amount. Refunds are only allowed for cancellations made no later than 15 days before the scheduled check-in date
• register on the ESU website and fill out the form for summer accommodation. by choosing the academic year 2026/2027 and clicking on the "Request for Alloggio estivo - Summer accommodation" button.
