Understanding the many shapes of inflammation: from bench to bedside

Inflammation is a multifaceted biological process that plays a critical role in the body defense against infection and injury. However, when dysregulated, inflammation can drive the development of numerous chronic diseases, such as autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative conditions. The summer school focuses on exploring the many “shapes” or forms that inflammation can take, from acute, beneficial responses to chronic, pathogenic processes. The program covers a wide array of topics, beginning with the fundamental biological mechanisms of inflammation.

Entanglements. Postcolonial Futures and New Futurisms

The 2025 edition looks towards the postcolonialism of the future: a thought that knows how to go 'beyond' the colonial trajectories of world organization; that envisions alternative ways of living on the planet which we cannot currently foresee, but which need to be created, even through literary imagination. A fair, sustainable, and livable future must necessarily be postcolonial. Plenary lectures given by eminent international scholars from various fields of knowledge will be followed by seminar activities and workshops where the theoretical stimuli acquired will be put into practice and tested against texts. The lingua franca of the School is English, but workshops are also offered in Spanish and Italian. On the last day, a feedback activity is planned in which participants can socialize and discuss their research projects with the tutors.
