Internships abroad - For students and graduates
Starting the traineeship
In order to start a traineeship, the agreement and the training programme are required; moreover, those who carry out the traineeship must have passed the General training course on health and safety in the workplace. Insurance coverage for third-party liability and for accidents at work at Inail is charged to the University.
Please note that the healthcare is guaranteed in EU countries only for emergencies or medical care required by the European Health Insurance Card - EHIC issued by your ASL. If you go to non-EU countries, you are required to take out a health insurance policy privately, valid for the entire period abroad. It is recommended to take out a policy privately even if you go to EU countries. On the website of the Ministry of Health there is specific information for each country, which you are kindly requested to check.
For travel and rentals, it is recommended to choose purchase options that provide for reimbursement in case of cancellation and provide for the recission without penalty of contractual relations.
Agreement
It is drawn up only on the occasion of the first hosted traineeship and establishes a framework agreement between the University and an institution or company, on the possibility to activate traineeships.
If not yet stipulated, it is up to the host institution, that must:
- register the company data (only the first time you use the service) through the appropriate form
- wait for the email to validate your registration
- use username and password to access the private area (click on the Training and orientation agreement button)
Training programme
It establishes the procedures to carry out the traineeship, including the duration and the activities to be done, jointly defined by the host institution, the tutor and the trainee.
It must be completed by those who are preparing the traineeship together with the company tutor within their own private area. At least 15 days before the starting date, the single copy of the training programme must be sent to the Career Service Office, which will subsequently send it countersigned to the host institution.

General health and safety training course (mandatory for all types of traineeships)
In compliance with the provisions of Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments and the State-Regions agreements of 21/12/2011 and 07/07/2016, each student/graduate, before starting the traineeship, must carry out a general health and safety training course and pass the final exam.
The course takes place online , on the Moodle platform.
- Access the security area, choose "general training", then click on " Basic course in health and safety: General training (4 hours). For international students the course is available in English: "Basic course in health and safety: General training (4 hours)".
- Then enter the login credentials used for the Uniweb system (email address and password), click on “Subscribe”.
- To view the first module, you need to approve the programmatic card.
Only after passing the test will it be possible to download the training certificate which constitutes a permanent course credit.
Who has already a general training certificate obtained in accordance with the above-mentioned laws, at another institution, or at the University of Padua before 25 July 2017, must send a copy to form.sicurezza@unipd.it for the appropriate check and any possible exemption from the online course prepared by the University.
At the end of the traineeship
Students are required to inquire at the Career Service Office, from the beginning of the organisation of the traineeship, for the eventual recognition of ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) at the end of it, as the final documentation changes according to specific modalities from school to school.
If, on the other hand, the traineeship is for the thesis, it is possible to recognise the ECTS obtained abroad in the academic career. At the end of the traineeship, students have to sign and present the two documents that can be downloaded here to the Career Service Office at least thirty days before the start of the graduation session.
