Daniela Mapelli, the new University of Padua Rector

Daniela Mapelli is the new Rector of the University of Padua for a six-year term 2021-2027.
Elected with 1381,50 votes, Mapelli surpassed her fellow candidate Patrizia Marzaro who collected 1186,62 total votes at the ballot.
The new Rector, succeeding current Rector Rosario Rizzuto, will begin her term at the helm of the University on October 1, 2021, at the start of the new academic year.
Voting took place electronically on the 14, 16 and 18 of June, with a very high level of participation by those permitted to vote.

Daniela Mapelli is a 1991 University of Padua graduate in Experimental Psychology who obtained her PhD in Experimental Psychology in 1996 at the University of Trieste. She spent two years (1993 -1995) at Carnegie Mellon University in the Department of Psychology’s Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. Between 1997 and 2003 she held post-doc positions in the Department of General Psychology and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Medicine of the University of Padua. In 2003, Mapelli became a university researcher. In 2010 she became an Associate Professor and in 2016, she obtained a Full Professorship position at the University of Padua where she teaches Neuropsychology and Neuropsychological Rehabilitation. She has published hundreds of scientific articles in international journals in the field of cognitive neuroscience with more than 2629 citations and an H-index of 25 (Google Scholar). She is a member of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society, the Herbert Simon Society, the Italian Association of Psychology, and the Italian Society of Neuropsychology.
