What drives global science? The four competing narratives
03.06.2021
The webinar series “Leaders in International Education – Strategic framework” is back. The webinar series is promoted by the International Relations Division of the University of Padova and will host some of the most prominent scholars in the world, discussing the main trends shaping the internationalization of higher education.
On June 9, Simon Marginson, Professor of Higher Education at the University of Oxford and Director of the Center for Global Higher Education (CGHE- ESRC / OFSRE) will give a talk on theme What drives global science? The four competing narratives, describing in detail 4 different interpretative frameworks: science as an expanding cross-border network; science as an arms race between competing nations; science as a global market of competing institutions or ‘World-Class Universities’; and science as a centre-periphery hierarchy in which emerging countries are permanently constrained by Euro-American dominance.
The meeting includes introduction remarks of Alessandro Paccagnella, Vice Rector for International relations, and Dora Longoni, Head of the International Relations Division.
