BioRescue: Science meets the public
20.06.2025
The “BioRescue” project, which is paving the way to save the Northern white rhinoceros from extinction, invites the public to the dissemination event "Science Meets the Public", taking place in Padua on June 26, 2025 at Sala delle Edicole, Palazzo del Capitanio.
The project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), focuses on developing advanced assisted reproduction techniques and stem cell-based technologies for the conservation of large mammals, with concrete applications to rescue the Northern white rhinoceros from extinction. The BioRescue consortium plays a key role in the BMBF’s research initiative for the protection of biological diversity.
The program features a series of short scientific talks for the general public (around 10 minutes each), in which world-renowned scientists and experts present their groundbreaking research in an accessible and engaging format.
This will be followed by a moderated discussion led by Barbara De Mori, Director of the Ethics Laboratory for Veterinary Medicine, Conservation, and Animal Welfare at the University of Padua, and Steven Seet, Head of Strategic Communication at Leibniz-IZW, President of the Conservation and Research Fund e.V., and PhD candidate at the EthicsLab of the University of Padua.
