
Two Unipd students at the Winter Universiade in Turin 2025

Two students from the University of Padua will also be protagonists at the Winter Universiade in Turin starting on Monday, January 13: they are Sebastiano Cipriano, an Energy Engineering student, competing in the giant slalom of alpine skiing, and Nicole Riz, who studies Primary Education Sciences and will be engaged in the ski orienteering discipline.
The Italian university delegation that will take part in the Winter Universiade 2025 from January 13 to 23 is composed of 89 student-athletes, from 30 different universities, competing in 12 of the sports disciplines in the Turin 2025 program, with the exception of ice hockey. The students will be accompanied by 28 official staff members including officials, doctors, and technicians, and will compete at the venues in the municipalities of Turin, Bardonecchia, Pragelato, and Sestriere. This edition of the Games will be open for the first time to Paralympic student-athletes as well.
The opening ceremony of the Torino 2025 Winter World University Games will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Inalpi Arena. On January 19, the Palavela in Turin will host the Exhibition Gala of the FISU World University Games Winter 2025. The Closing Ceremony will be held on January 23 in Piazza Castello.
This will be the twelfth time in history that the Universiade will be held in Italy and the seventh time for the Winter Universiade, with the previous one in Trentino in 2013. The city of Turin will host a Universiade for the fourth time (two winter and two summer editions).
