08.11.2024
On Sunday, November 3rd, at the Comics&Science Palace in Lucca, The Biodiversity Issue, the free comic book created by Comics&Science in collaboration with the University of Padua and the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) - the first national research center on biodiversity funded by the PNRR – Next Generation EU, which aims to promote sustainable biodiversity management across the territory, was presented.
The comic book, sponsored by Unipd and involving the Botanical Garden and the Hydrobiological Station of Chioggia, is coordinated by evolutionary philosopher Telmo Pievani from Unipd and curated by Chiara Anzolini and Fabio De Pascale, researchers and science communicators from NBFC at the University of Padua.
The importance of genetic richness, species variety, and ecosystem diversity—in short, biodiversity—are at the heart of this spin-off from the Comics&Science series by CNR Edizioni, the publishing label of the National Research Council. Originally conceived as a science communication activity by Symmaceo Communications, the series now offers a special edition: not only "Operazione Sciame," the comic written by Alessandro Lise and illustrated by Sara Menetti, but also five scientific deep dives and an interview with the authors by science journalist Elisabetta Tola.
