Co-creating change: strategies and policies for a sustainable future

The Auditorium of the Botanical Garden of Padua will host on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. the opening event of the Higher Education Summit - HES 2024, a conference dedicated to sustainability in higher education, organized and promoted by the University in collaboration with the Copernicus Alliance.

The opening event, titled “Co-creating change: strategies and policies for a sustainable future,” stands as a moment of virtuous exchange, restitution of good practices and discussion among institutions and stakeholders on the directions, strategies, policies promoted they are adopting to address the present and future challenges of sustainability.

The evening will be opened by the institutional greetings of the Rector, the Vice rector for Third Mission and Regional Relations, Prof. Monica Fedeli, the FISPPA Director, Prof. Egidio Robusto and Tom Kuppens, co-chair of the Copernicus Alliance.
This will be followed by a keynote speech by Isabel Rimanoczy. Besides being the coordinator of the PRME Working Group on Sustainability Mindset, a global network of academics promoting evolutionary change in consciousness, Rimanoczy is co-founder and director of the award-winning Sustainability Mindset Indicator LLC as well.

The interlude of the event by Prof. Maria Cristina Lavagnolo will feature the presentation of the experience of the general course “Ambassadors of Sustainability”, born from the collaboration between the University of Padua, the Municipality of Padua and AcegasAmga Aps.

The second part of the evening will host a panel discussion in which the main institutions operating in the Padua area will take part to discuss and compare notes on the path to a more sustainable future. Guests of the panel are Margherita Cera, Councillor of the City of Padua; Antonio Santocono, President of the Camera di Commercio di Padova; Luciana De Mori, Head of Communication and Stakeholder Relations of AcegasApsAmga; Enrico Del Sole, President of Associazione Amici dell’Università di Padova  and Vice President with responsibility for the Padua area of Confindustria Veneto Est; Chiara de Stefani, Corporate Sustainability Director of SIT SPA; Filippo Sturaro, technical-inspective director,Ufficio Scolastico Regionale per il Veneto;  Francesca Boccaletto, a journalist expert in social and cultural issue, will moderate.

Greetings from the Vice rector for Sustainability Prof. Francesca da Porto will close the evening.

During the event, an interpretation service will be made available to allow participants to listen to the speeches in Italian or English. Attendance is free and open to the public,  upon reservation subject to availability.
