What Type Are You? Unipd and Admo Together

06.12.2024

On December 9, at the entrance hall of the Morgagni Lecture Hall (Policlinico), at 10 a.m.ADMO, the Association of Bone Marrow Donors, returns for a day of awareness aimed especially at students.

If you are in good health, weigh more than 50 kg, and are between 18 and 35 years old, you can have an interview with a doctor and perform a self-saliva sample to make yourself available for the genetic compatibility search for those waiting for a transplant.

For years, the University has been engaged in a project to raise awareness and recruit new potential bone marrow donors in collaboration with ADMO.

Bone marrow donation is crucial in the treatment of many blood diseases, including leukemia, often being the only hope of life for affected patients. Donation is not dangerous for the donor, but compatibility with the recipient is very rare. Typing is necessary to expand the pool of potential donors to increase the chances of finding a genetically compatible "twin."
