The Veneto Centre for Women Project meets with the Mathematics Department

22.04.2024

The Department of Mathematics of the University of Padua hosts three meetings with volunteers from the Centro Veneto Progetto Donna (CVPD). Each meeting will discuss creating positive and inclusive relationships to ensure that the department is a protective and respectful place to study and work.

CVPD is a voluntary association that offers support to Italian and non-Italian women in difficulty due to domestic violence or other forms of mistreatment. Specialized psychologists are available to discuss issues related to gender and intra-family violence thanks to their continuous accredited training.

The Center is a place where women can be heard, a place where they are given proper attention, respect, and support. Women experiencing intimate partner violence and abuse are given tools that encourage personal growth to help them move forward towards a healthy life.

Students of the Mathematics Department are introduced to the Centre by the volunteers Stefania Loddo and Sara Achenza on Tuesday 23 April (12:30 pm, room 1A150), the volunteers will then be available to meet with students in room 7B2 from 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm. Meetings are held in Italian.

Faculty, staff, PhD students and post-doc fellows of the Mathematics Department are introduced to the Center by volunteers Mariangela Zanni and Eleonora Lozzi on Tuesday 7 May (12:30 pm, room 1A150). Meetings are held in Italian.

On Tuesday 14 May (12:30 pm, in room 1A150) an additional meeting will introduce the Centre by volunteers Stefania Loddo and Nicole Ayangma Pontiroli to the international community, the volunteers will then be available in room 7B2 from 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm. The meeting is held in English.
