La Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, one of China's leading technical universities, has awarded Fabrizio Dughiero, head of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Padua, the title of Visiting Professor. The recognition was made official on 4 December at Palazzo Bo, at the end of the visit of the Chinese university delegation to the Department of Engineering on Via Giovanni Gradenigo.

HUST, which has around 60,000 students, 1,600 full professors, and 1,400 associate professors spread across three campuses in the metropolitan area of Wuhan, has been a point of reference in the Asian university landscape for years and a strategic partner of the University of Padua.

"This is an important recognition for me," comments Fabrizio Dughiero, "especially because it represents a step forward in the collaboration between HUST and the University of Padua: a solid foundation for jointly developing research and teaching activities, with a real reciprocal exchange of students between our countries. I deeply believe in the exchange of people and ideas: teachers and students moving between different contexts learn to know each other, build trust, and create bridges between cultures and traditions. It is these bridges that help to break down barriers and distrust, often fertile ground for conflicts. A sincere thank you to the colleagues from HUST and the University of Padua who have made this journey possible. Now we work on the next steps."
