The University of Padua stands with those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Rector Daniela Mapelli shares condolences with the Turkish and Syrian student community and their families affected by the devastating earthquake that brought death and destruction to the area between their borders. The Rector, along with the University community, wish to express thoughts of unity during this moment of suffering with those greatly concerned by the destruction and loss.

As one of the strongest felt in the last century, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Turkey and Syria and resulted in the deaths of more than 5,000 victims. The epicentre occurred in the densely populated city of Gaziantep located in south-eastern Turkey.

The University of Padua, which welcomes numerous students from these territories into its community (including more than 500 students from Turkey), holds a closeness with the countries involved and wishes to act as a vehicle for spreading amessage of solidarity and supportby sharing information on organizations and associations you can contact to send your help.
