University of Padua meets Makerere University

The newly-elected Rector Daniela Mapelli, together with the Vice Rector for the International Relations of the University of Padua, Alessandro Paccagnella, are welcoming at Bo Palace, a delegation of the Makerere University, headed by Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice Chancellor of the Ugandan university.

During the opening session is scheduled a remote connection with Massimiliano Mazzanti and Massimo Riccardo, respectively Ambassador of Italy in Kampala and Ambassador of Italy at UNESCO. Representatives of local institutions as well as the NGO Doctors with africa CUAMM, deeply committed to the African continent, will participate in this session.

The event represents an opportunity to strengthen the relationship in the fields of didactic and research, already profitable and stimulating, among the two Universities. A Memorandum of Understanding is going to be signed, to enshrine the intention to enhance the collaborative partnership.

In the afternoon three panels in specific didactic and research areas will take place:

-       UNESCO MaB Project for M.Moroto (Chair: Gabriella Salviulo, Director of the HRC)

-       Medicine (Chair: Francesco Paolo Russo, University of Padua)

-       Statistics (Chair: Francesca Bassi, University of Padua)

Professors of the two Universities will discuss topics of common interest, shared research ideas and explore new opportunities of collaboration.
