University of Padua Medical Specialisation Schools are among the best in the world

03.11.2020

The three University of Padua Schools includes those specialising in Diseases of Cardiovascular Apparatus, Diseases of Endocrinology and Metabolism, and Digestive Diseases. Included with the University of Padua’s Graduate School of Digestive System Diseases, eight Italian universities have been ranked among the world’s top 100 Best Global Universities for Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

The American company, US News and World Report publishes the prestigious ranking of organizations and derives rankings through its analyses. The ranking in question analyses the reputation of various medical disciplines among 1748 academic institutions within 86 different nations, including 58 Italian universities, by evaluating the quality of their academic performance. The indicators and their weights in the ranking result from a combination of criteria and data obtained from the Clarivate Analytics global reputation survey.

Fabio Farinati, Director of the School of Digestive Diseases stated, “I believe I share a significant sense of satisfaction with my Cardiology and Endocrinology colleagues.  Our efforts to prepare specialists and train them to be internationally competitive is well justified as they seek employment in the best Gastroenterology Centres found in the Tri-Veneto Region, within Italy, and across the globe.

Our School received and renewed the only Italian European Board of Gastroenterology Certification together with Milan. The current ISO 2001 certification is underway with new recognition, which has pushed our dedication to further commitment to develop, in terms of inclusiveness, in the training network, and of scientific and clinical contents.  The integral training of endoscopy, ultrasound, and pathophysiology encompass the wealth of knowledge that our specialists acquire during their course study.

It is my hope that political decision-makers will adequately weigh the results achieved by the Italian specialization schools, and the University of Padua in particular. As various levels of political decision-making have proposed an alternative training course throughout the region that would make it difficult to guarantee trainees the same level of preparation they obtain from the University today.”
