The University of Padua has approved the financial plan for the 42nd PhD cycle
30.01.2026
The University of Padua strengthens its commitment to doctoral education by guaranteeing a substantial number of scholarships. Thanks to a total allocation of over €16.5 million—approximately €10 million from the Ministry and €6.5 million from the University’s own budget—255 PhD scholarships will be funded, corresponding to 765 annual grants, ensuring continuity in enrolments even after the conclusion of the PNRR.
To further support doctoral candidates, the University has also decided to increase the value of the scholarships, providing a €100 monthly top-up over the minimum amount set by the Ministry, helping to offset the loss of purchasing power.
With this increase, the annual scholarship amount rises from €16,243 to €17,443 (gross), inclusive of the additional allowance for periods of training and research abroad. In addition, a research budget equal to 10% of the scholarship amount is provided to support research activities in Italy and abroad.
Alongside the 255 scholarships funded by the Ministry and the University of Padua, additional scholarships funded by third-party organisations and departments will further expand opportunities for prospective PhD candidates.
