Unipd ranked one of the most sustainable universities in the world

The University of Padua improves its ranking by 60 positions in the 2021 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing it among the top 100 most sustainable universities worldwide and one of the best in Italy.

With 956 participating universities, the University of Padua moved from the 157th position in 2020 to the 97th position in 2021.

A set of criteria used to rank levels of sustainability include the size of the university, both spatial and in terms of population, campus location, and the amount of green space within the campus. Other forms of criteria measure the effort universities make towards establishing green policies and management including energy use, transportation policies, water use, recycling, and waste treatment.

Results are obtained by a series of GreenMetric evaluation tools, including 39 indicators and the six following criteria; Setting & Infrastructure, Energy & Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education & Research.

The University of Padua achieves particular improvements in Setting & Infrastructure, Water, and Education & Research.
