Unipd joins the Arqus Annual Conference

17.09.2021

The University of Padua participates in the annual meeting of the European University Alliance Arqus (October 4-7), of which it is a member together with the universities of Vilnius, Granada, Bergen, Lyon, Leipzig and Graz. The first annual conference of Arqus aims to reflect on the role of European alliances in solving the challenges of higher education in the 21st century, changing the behavior patterns of universities and rediscovering opportunities for collaboration.

Due to the pandemic, this is only the first time that rectors and staff of Alliance universities, international higher education and research experts and representatives of EU higher education policy will come together, since the launch of the European consortium in 2019.

On October 5 (h. 10.15), everyone is welcome to the opening of the events, which includes a special greeting by French President Emmanuel Macron and a speech by higher education expert Peter van der Hijden. These speeches are broadcast live on Arqus' YouTube channel.

Arqus' annual conference consists of a public conference on "University in the transforming world: catching up with or getting ahead of time," and closed sessions in which Arqus working groups discuss the future of the Alliance and possible challenges.

Despite the limitations imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, this is a unique opportunity to strengthen the ties between the seven universities and to continue building the Arqus community, which are the true foundations of the Alliance.
