Unipd climbs 2 positions in the Best Global Universities International Rankings

A good performance from Padua in the 2021 edition of the Best Global Universities Rankings, created by the American newspaper "US News & World Report": Unipd reached to 114th place in the 2021 global ranking (the previous edition was 116th), and at 2nd place among all Italian universities, tied with Sapienza of Rome.

The ranking is based on the data of about 1,500 universities in over 80 countries worldwide. The data considers both qualitative parameters, such as reputation in the scientific field, and quantitative indicators, such as publications, citations and international collaborations.

“We are proud of these results, and we welcome them with a great sense of responsibility as we push further to do better and better, as well as to maintain and exceed the standards of excellence that we guarantee our students. This academic year began under the banner of an increased international scope, having registered + 60% of first year students from across our borders. The results of the Best Global Universities Rankings will take us even further towards a global dimension,” stated by Rector Rosario Rizzuto of the University of Padua.

In addition to overall rankings, this year the ranking by subject included an additional 10 new subjects bringing the total analyzed disciplines to 38. As such, the University of Padua recorded exceptional results in the field of Space Sciences where it now ranks among the Top 15 universities in the world.
The Medical School also confirmed its international stance by placing itself among the Top 100 universities in the world in 7 disciplines

  • Cardiac and Cardiovascular System Science: 57th place
  • Cell Biology: 74th place
  • Endocrinology and Metabolism: 32nd place
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology: 49th place
  • Immunology: 90th place
  • Psychiatry / Psychology: 92nd place
  • Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging: 54th place

In addition to the area of Medicine, the University of Padua also ranks among the Top 100 universities in other areas, such as Agriculture and Veterinary, Engineering and Natural Sciences:

  • Agricultural Science: 79th place
  • Plant and Animal Science: 83rd place
  • Engineering: 81st place
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering: 78th place
  • Mechanical Engineering: 56th place
  • Physics: 88th place
