The Ukrainian Emergency: Unipd and Padua’s Questura create an app

26.04.2022

The Application Office of the IT and Telematic Services Area of the University of Padua has developed software for Padua’s Questura (Police Headquarters) to allow Ukrainian refugees to request an appointment for a residence permit.

In synergy between the local police and the University of Padua, the Ukrainian emergency online portal allows Ukrainian citizens, or agencies that host them, to quickly request an appointment to apply for a permit to stay in the country, also known as the Italian permesso di soggiorno.

“Available in Ukrainian, Russian and Italian, the software can be used on PCs, smartphones, and tablets from the web address  https://ua-emergency.questurapadova.unipd.it/create. Allowing individuals and families to start the application process from them to legally stay in Italy.” Andrea Baraldo, ASIT Area Manager of the University continues to explain “The user friendly and convenient tool also allows the local police to monitor appointments.”

University of Padua Rector Daniela Mapelli shares her thoughts "The entire community of Padua continues to show its solidarity with those in difficulty and with those in need. Russia’s aggression has led to a heavy and often dramatic departure of the Ukrainian people from their homes. The men, women and children who find themselves in the Veneto Regions have made easy access to working with the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters more even fundamental than ever.  We are at the forefront of guaranteeing services and hospitality that require everyone to contribute to this effort.  That is why I immediately accepted Commissioner Antonio Sbordone’s request to make our IT services available.”
