11.03.2026

Progetto Giovani has officially opened the call for the selection of young artists and curators for "Step by Step", the contemporary visual arts project, realised in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua.

Now in its 21st edition, "Step by Step" is curated by Giovanni Bianchi for the University of Padua, along with Stefania Schiavon and Caterina Benvegnù for the Progetto Giovani Office. The project involves the participation of a maximum of 10 young artists, selected through this call, and a group of young curators, of whom some will be chosen through the call and others will come from the "Curating an Art Exhibition" workshop of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua.

The aim of the project is to provide a training pathway for the organisation of a series of collective exhibitions created by emerging artists and curators. Participants will share a training and field experience pathway from mid-May to October 2026, to learn and follow all the phases of planning, organising, and realising a contemporary art exhibition.

The call is aimed at:

artists under 35 (including those not registered with the GAI archive) who operate in the Veneto region;
curators under 35 (excluding those attending the "Curating an Art Exhibition" workshop of the Department of Cultural Heritage) who operate in the Veneto region.

The deadline for submitting applications is 12 April 2026.
