Springtime at the Botanical Garden and at the Museum of Humankind
21.03.2025
Starting on the first day of spring, Friday, March 21, the rich calendar of initiatives proposed by the Botanical Garden and the Museum of Humankind of the University of Padua begins.
The Botanical Garden inaugurates, starting precisely on March 21, a cycle of guided tours, an opportunity to closely observe the awakening of nature and the first changes that accompany the changing seasons. For a month, every Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m., visitors will be guided to explore the botanical collections, discovering the colors and blooms characteristic of this time of year. This opportunity is in addition to the guided tours offered every weekend.
In May, from May 1 to 4, the Botanical Garden will once again host Risvegli. The Flower Festival.
The Museum of Humankind offers a series of workshops at 4 p.m. on spring Saturdays designed for children of different age groups to explore the past through science and art.
Older children, ages 8 to 12, can challenge themselves with a focus on evolution, scheduled for Saturday, March 22, and April 5: an opportunity to better understand the mechanisms that govern nature and become scientists for a day. For younger children, ages 4 to 7, the appointment is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, and April 12, with an activity that will take them back in time, discovering the art of prehistoric humans, transforming them into real cave artists.
Meetings with experts aimed at adults continue as well. On Wednesday, March 26, Cristiano Dal Sasso, an expert from the Natural History Museum of Milan, will discuss Spinosaurus: a true dragon, the first and so far only semi-aquatic dinosaur, longer than a T. rex. The meeting will be followed by a visit to the Museum's hall dedicated to the Age of Reptiles and the Palm Hall.
The appointments with the books in Tales of Nature, also at Mnu, are scheduled for April 11 with Francesco Sauro, who will present the photo book Auyan Tepui, Caves at the Origins of Time, and Thursday, April 17 with Leonardo Vallini, to discover 'our first steps out of Africa' from a genetic perspective.
