Padua places first in Italy for the 2020 Best Global Universities Ranking

The 6th edition of the Best Global Universities Rankings of 2020 has been published on October 22nd by the American newspaper "US News & World Report".

Based on 13 different indicators, the performance of each university is analysed at a local and global level in relation to research and reputation acquired. The ranking examined 1,500 universities in 81 different countries worldwide.

In the general ranking, the University of Padua stands in 116th place, and as in the previous edition confirmed the first place among all Italian universities, like the University of Bologna. The evaluation comprises of 30 different indicators, including citations, conferences, international collaborations as well as the number of books and publications produced, along with many other factors.

In the classification of single subjects, among the 26 taken into consideration, Padua obtains the best results among Italian universities in electrical and electronic engineering, molecular and genetic biology, plant and animal science, psychiatry and psychology, as well as space sciences.

Top results of the Best Global Universities ranking are three American universities, in order, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Stanford University respectfully. While the University of Oxford leads first place among all European universities.
