26.08.2024
The University of Padua launches the Centre for the Study of Perception and Art (CARPE), an interdepartmental study center dedicated to the study of perception, the culture of the arts and the broader role of aesthetics in people's lives.
The Centre, directed by Marco Bertamini, has been joined by the departments of General Psychology, Cultural Heritage, Neuroscience, Developmental and Socialization Psychology, Linguistic and Literary Studies, Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Applied Psychology.
CARPE aims to integrate activities of different groups of researchers, while collaborating with national and international public and private bodies, companies, and scientific associations with converging interests.
The new centre aims to stimulate and support research, teaching, and interdisciplinary and transversal collaborations, as well as joint study and research projects by participating in national and international funding calls. The aim is to activate a transfer of knowledge between basic and applied research, regarding the role of art in promoting mental health and well-being. Further objectives are to stimulate effective collaboration between cognitive sciences, neurosciences, and humanities, and to facilitate knowledge exchange activities within the territory, also through scientific dissemination.
Among the main activities is the creation of collaboration networks with national and international associations that already operate in this field, the organization of events, the creation of exchange opportunities and collaborations for research funding, and the implementation of training courses.
To support these activities, an international Advisory Board of researchers was also created.
