Math Circles for Teachers
18.09.2024
Again this year, the ‘Tullio Levi-Civita’ Department of Mathematics of the University of Padua initiates a Mathematical Circle for secondary school math educators (not graduates in mathematics), which will take place for five consecutive Thursdays starting on November 7.
Math circles bring informal discussion groups together to solve mathematical problems under the guidence of one or more university professors who act as moderators in an relaxed atmosphere.
Since 2020, the ‘Tullio Levi-Civita’ Department of Mathematics has organized Math Circles for groups from 8-10 years old and 11-13 years old students. Since 2022, it has organized a series of meetings aimed at middle school educators with an interest in the different facets of mathematics who are eager to solve problems with colleagues while sharing their curiosity and discovering different ways in which one can approach this fundamental discipline.
Participation is free, lasting 1.5 hours and will take place at Torre Archimede, via Trieste 63, Padua.
Interested participants are welcome to an information meeting on 3 October at 5:30 pm in the meeting room on the 7th floor of Torre Archimede (please confirm your presence by writing to circoli@math.unipd.it).
The next edition for 8-10 year old and 11-13 year old students is scheduled for January-March 2025.
