Lost Voices

06.02.2020

WEDNESDAY 12 - THURSDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2020
PALAZZO LIVIANO, SALA CONSIGLIO PADOVA

This international conference is organized within the context of the international project “Lacunae Ciconiae: Lost voices in the works of a Liégeois musician ca 1400” (2019-2020), in partnership with the Haute École de Musique of Genève-Neuchâtel, the Dipartimento dei Beni Culturali of the University of Padua, the Alamire Foundation and the Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven.

The programme includes a wide variety of activities ranging from formal lectures to the presentation of on-going research projects, from the illustration of case studies (also involving young scholars and researchers from the institutions participating in the project and other institutions engaged in similar sectors of research) to simple exercises of reconstruction, and from the illustration of problems of counterpoint to practical exercises in guided improvisation.

Particular attention will be given to the polyphonic work of Johannes Ciconia and its musical and cultural background, with special reference to the artistic-cultural (from Giotto to Giusto de’ Menabuoi) and theoretic-musical (from Marchetto da Padova to Prosdocimo de Beldemandis) context of Padua.
