I Light Up Less. I Light Up with Science

13.02.2026

The University of Padua, through the UniPadova Sostenibile program, is once again participating in the "M'illumino di Meno" campaign this year, promoted by Caterpillar and Rai Radio 2 and scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026, on the occasion of the National Day of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Lifestyles.

In line with the national initiative, on February 16, the lights of Palazzo del Bo, the historical heart of the University, and Palazzo Storione, the administrative center, will be turned off at around 5:30 pm, along with hundreds of monuments and buildings across Italy.

The 2026 edition, titled M'Illumino di Meno. M'Illumino di Scienza, emphasizes the role of scientific research in addressing environmental challenges and promoting alternative and more sustainable energy solutions, capable of reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the energy transition process. To highlight the University's contribution to these topics, short videos featuring professors and researchers discussing their research activities will be published on the UniPadova Sostenibile Facebook and Instagram channels in the following weeks.

In addition to symbolic gestures, there will also be opportunities for concrete actions of sharing: on Monday, February 16, from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, the Central Library of Engineering is offering Share (in) the Library, an opportunity to recirculate unused items. Throughout the day, UniPd students can find books and small items useful for studying and cooking, and freely take up to three items, leaving "in exchange" a like or a photo shared on the Library's Instagram profile.
