Justice, Leniency, Legality
21.07.2023
As part of the first round of summer courses held at the University of Padua Bressanone campus, the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio will hold his lectio magistralis entitled “Franco Sartori - su Giustizia, indulgenza, legalità" on 24 July at the Aula Magna of the Casa della Gioventù (Via Rio Bianco, 12 - Bressanone, BZ).
The event opens with institutional greetings by the University of Padua Rector, Daniela Mapelli, who commented on the summer courses in Bressanone by saying, "More than seventy years have passed since the summer of 1952 when the Minister of Public Education, Antonio Segni and University of Padua Rector, Guido Ferro launched the first season of summer courses in Bressanone, which shortly thereafter, included a visit by the Prime Minister Alcide De Gasperi. At this time, Italy was in the process of rebuilding not only its infrastructure, but also its society. And while the University of Padua had continued to hold a strong European and international vocation, it now focused on the process of integrating Alto Adige - South Tyrol after years of deep tension. Italy now sought to build a sense of autonomy, peace, progress, and a common European identity by stimulating a dialogue with a region that had suffered unspeakable intolerance and abuse by a fascist regime. By electing to host summer courses in Bressanone, the University of Padua verified itself as visionaries rooted in a time, much like today, and at the centre of an important European and international crossroads."
The event includes a presentation of a newly published book by D. Mosconi, R. Pacher, and D. Stablum entitled Cultura: condividere per convivere. I primi 25 anni dell’Università di Padova a Bressanone (A. Weger editore, 2023).
Every year, the Bressanone campus hosts educational initiatives, conferences, and courses by welcoming students, professors, and guests from various institutions and research organisations.
