Jonathan Kreisberg Trio for the Padova Jazz Festival
29.10.2024
Thursday, October 31 marks the opening of the twenty-sixth edition of the Padova Jazz Festival, which runs until November 17.
The inaugural concert will take place on Thursday, October 31 at 9 p.m. in the Department of Physics and Astronomy G. Galilei at the University of Padova, featuring the trio led by guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg, characterized by the Hammond organ sounds of Marko Churnchetz and with Colin Stranahan on drums.
Born in New York, Jonathan Kreisberg is now one of the most influential jazz guitarists on an international level. He began playing guitar at the age of ten and, as a teenager, he was already being recognized by various critics. After his university studies, his first professional steps took him in many directions, from contemporary music to progressive rock. The first incarnation of the Jonathan Kreisberg Trio dates back to the early years of his career in Miami.
In his early twenties, he returned to New York where his initial modernist jazz interest was drawn towards the language of tradition, which for Kreisberg served as a gateway to the expressive future of the six-string. His style matured by combining timeless melodicism with futuristic sound textures.
He will perform in Padova with a newly formed group based on the classic organ trio format, emphasizing the soul, R&B, and funky influences that permeate jazz structures.
Admission is by ticket purchase. Special price for students.
Also part of the Padova Jazz Festival, the University of Padova will host a concert by the Mauro Ottolini Trio on November 9th in the Department of Psychology.
