Jean-Luc Nancy, "To set freedom free"

20.05.2020

The new format of Universa, Padua Freedom Lectures, born to celebrate the 800th anniversary of our University and aiming to highlight the founding value of ‘libertas’, will take place on May 21, at 5 pm.

The first guest will be Jean-Luc Nancy, a leading voice in contemporary French philosophy, who will hold a lecture entitled ‘To set freedom free’; our society considers individual freedom to be its most precious asset, unless public health and life are are seriously threatened, as they are in today’s circumstances. The exercise of freedom is not at all simple, since it is crucial for people to be free to decide without compromising the freedom of others.

The event will begin with the institutional greetings of Rector Rosario Rizzuto, followed by the opening speech by the head of cultural, social and gender relations Annalisa Oboe and will continue with the lectio by Jean-Luc Nancy, followed by comments by Marcello Ghilardi and Laura Sanò, professors of the Department of Philosophy, sociology, pedagogy and applied psychology of the University of Padua, and of the public.

You can participate by signing up for the meeting on Zoom, which will also be broadcast on the Facebook page and YouTube channel of the University of Padua.
