The Giovanni Poleni Museum of the History of Physics - a EMYA finalist

Of the hundreds of museums across Europe that annually apply for the European Museum of the Year Awards (EMYA), only around fifty are nominated to participate in the conference and ceremony proclaimed the winner. Among this year’s nominees, the Giovanni Poleni Museum is one of the only two Italian museums nominated.

The annual conference and award ceremony of the EMY2024 award will be held in Portimão, Portugal, from 1 to 4 May 2024.

The European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA) began in 1977 under the auspices of the Council of Europe, with the aim of recognizing excellence in the European museum scene. EMYA is dedicated to promoting excellence in innovation and public quality in museum practice, encouraging networking and exchange of ideas and sustainable best practices within the sector.

EMYA works within the overall framework of Council of Europe values with a commitment to promote citizenship, democracy and human rights, and sustainability, bridging cultures and social and political borders. The EMYA award scheme responds to long term societal changes as well as current urgent social issues, and reflects the challenges, obligations and opportunities which museums face in the 21st century.
