Climate Actions and Just Transition
21.03.2025
On April 4, in anticipation of GeoNight, the international night of geography, the inaugural conference of the new Jean Monnet Centre at the University of Padua on climate actions and just transition will be held.
The event, which takes place entirely online, is divided into two sessions.
The first, at 5 p.m., is a seminar featuring three internationally renowned experts who will critically discuss and reflect on the issue of transitioning away from fossil fuels in a fair and just manner: Jason W. Moore, author of the book “Capitalism in the Web of Life: Ecology and the Accumulation of Capital,” Tzeporah Berman, chair of the steering committee and founder of the initiative for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and Benjamin Sovacool, author of the scientific work "When Decarbonization Reinforces Colonization."
Registration
From 9 p.m., an evening session is dedicated to the World Café, where researchers, society, and movements come together to discuss some of the key issues related to climate change with a vision of co-creating and cooperating for a more equitable, just, peaceful, and common future.
Registration
Participation in both sessions is free and open to all interested individuals, with registration required.
